"We should not be underestimated" - Besiktas boss fires warning to Arsenal

Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic has warned Arsenal not to underestimate his side ahead of their Champions League clash.

Besiktas held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying tie, with neither side coming particularly close to winning the game in a dour affair. Arsenal will feel that they have the upper hand, with the game back at the Emirates Stadium and the score currently goalless.

However, whilst many Arsenal fans are already approaching the game as if they're already through, Besiktas' Croatian manager Slaven Bilic has warned the Gunners not to underestimate them ahead of Wednesday's second meeting between the two sides.

"We put in a great performance in the first leg," Bilic said. "We demonstrated our quality and that we should not be underestimated. Yes they are Arsenal but we should not belittle ourselves for we are Beşiktaş. I may not be on the touchline but I will be besides all of them in spirit.

"As long as the team keep their spirit and philosophy that is what is important. All I want is for the boys to give it their all and I have full faith in them."

Bilic is suspended for the game having been sent off in the first leg, and has earned himself a reputation for being an extroverted manager, particularly during his time as Croatia manager, where he defied the odds to dump England out of the qualifying for Euro 2008.

A similar giantkilling of an overconfident English footballing giant will be needed for Besiktas to get through, but Bilic is right to warn the Gunners. The likes of Veli Kavlak, Oguzhan Ozyakup and of course, former Chelsea striker Demba Ba have the quality to hurt Arsenal if they are complacent.
