Real Madrid star Sami Khedira has commented on his future.
Arsenal target Sami Khedira has admitted that his immediate future looks to lie away from the Spanish capital when asked by reporters.
The German international was given permission by boss Carlo Ancelotti to return to Germany on the night that Real Madrid suffered defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final.
It was yet another major hint that the club aren’t counting on his services for this season and Khedira said as much in response to the reporters’ questions.
“I am at this moment in time out of Real Madrid. Until the August 31 anything can happen,” he said, quoted by the Spanish publication Marca.
The Gunners have reportedly been long-term admirers of Sami Khedira and his refusal to sign a contract extension at Madrid suggests the club would rather sell before the deadline than lose him for free next summer.
The Emirates outfit have a contingent of German players in Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski who could play a part in helping persuade the former Stuttgart man to move to North London.
His reported €200,000-a-week wages could cause a stumbling block for the Premier League outfit, although boss Wenger may compromise when dealing with the importance of signing that elusive defensive midfielder.
The Gunners aren’t alone in their interest for the 27-year-old, however, as German champions Bayern Munich look to replace the injured Javi Martinez whereas rumours suggest a link-up with friend Mario Gomez at Fiorentina is also a possibility.
It’s all set up for a late dash for his signature, and there are sure to be plenty of twists and turns left in this transfer saga.
