Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 24th August 2014, but a year earlier.
What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?
Here are some of the big scoops from the 24th August 2013…
A year ago today and the transfer rumours were starting to get into full swing. The subject of the matter a year ago was Juan Mata, who was seemingly out of the reckoning under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.
The Spaniard was not said to be a part of Mourinho's plans, so he was willing to sell him to any interested party. Which, apparently, a year ago was Arsenal.
The Gunners were believed to be eyeing a big marquee signing to quell some fan discontent. Arsenal were also known to be in the market for a playmaker, so Mata simply made sense.
But a few days later and Arsenal snapped up Mesut Ozil instead. Mata joined Manchester United in January.
Sam the man
Chelsea had reportedly agreed a deal to sign Samuel Eto'o from Anzhi Makhachkala, alongside the imminent signature of Willian.
Whilst the Brazilian was waiting on a Work Permit to complete his move away from Dagestan the Cameroonian also came up in discussions.
Chelsea needed another striker and Mourinho knew him from their time working together at Inter Milan. Eto'o officially signed for the club five days later although it was not a great campaign in London.
He found goals hard to come by, although did have a knack for scoring against the big teams, and also saw his relationship with Mourinho deteriorate.
He was allowed to leave on a free transfer this summer and remains without a club.
Bayern Munich bound striker Robert Lewandowski revealed the long list of teams he had rejected in the past 12 months - with Premier League teams present.
He revealed that Manchester United and Chelsea had both tried to sign him but he wanted another year at Dortmund - which he did, before joining Bayern Munich on a Bosman this summer.
