Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has admitted his admiration for Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal.
The Dutch boss has however admitted it is far from easy to sign his top targets, and was using the player as an example to fend off questions about Angel di Maria.
Van Gaal asked whether he likes Di Maria. "Yes, but I like Messi, also. I like Vidal, also."— Rob Dawson (@RobDawsonMEN) August 24, 2014
He was speaking after United's 1-1 draw away to Sunderland, and responding to questions from the media surrounding the rumoured impending signing of Angel di Maria from Real Madrid.
United have been linked with Vidal all summer, and while his comment regarding Lionel Messi is a facade, his comment about the Chilean midfielder is mischievous to say the least.
Whether trying to throw the media into a frenzy, distract from United's poor performance, or send a message to the United board, it's clear that the new boss is far from happy with the team he currently has at his disposal, with days remaining in this current transfer window to solve his problems.
