A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool…
Liverpool have reportedly ended their interest in Samuel Eto’o, with a deal for Mario Balotelli likely to be finalised next week.
That is the claim of the Liverpool Echo, which suggests the Cameroon international will not be heading to Anfield despite reportedly completing a medical earlier this month.
Some reports had suggested he would move to the Reds even if Balotelli did the same. But it now seems Brendan Rodgers is happy to sign just one frontman before the transfer window closes at the beginning of September.
A different slant comes from the Mirror, which suggests Eto’o was asking for £100,000-a-week and a two-year deal to sign for Liverpool; something Rodgers rejected.
It is now being claimed Everton are looking into the possibility of bringing the former Chelsea player to Goodison Park.
And finally, the Daily Star has published quotes attributed to Balotelli’s agent Mino Raiola, in which he reveals just how important his client’s proposed move to Anfield is.
“At the highest level, this is Mario’s last chance, “ Raiola said. “It is either all or nothing.”
