United to allow trio of England internationals to leave on loan - report

Manchester United will allow Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverley and Wilfried Zaha to leave the club on a temporary basis this summer.

Manchester United have made Tom Cleverley, Danny Welbeck and Wilfried Zaha all available for loan, according to a report.

The three England internationals are all considered surplus to requirements by Louis Van Gaal and have been told that they can move away from Old Trafford on a temporary basis.

Van Gaal is keen to get them all regular first-team football, which he doesn’t believe he can offer them at Old Trafford, although he is loathed to lose them on a permanent basis.

The experienced Dutchman is determined to make an impact at United and wants to strengthen his squad considerably, but it is still rather startling to see Welbeck and Cleverley made available to leave the club.

The two players were regularly selected by David Moyes during his time at the club, but Van Gaal has clearly identified them as weak-spots.

It is thought that they will not be allowed to leave to any of the top six clubs in the Premier League, but it is expected that a host of other sides will be interested in acquiring the talented youngsters.

Although Welbeck may not possess the natural flair of many United attackers in the past, he does have other qualities – namely in his pace, power and ability on the counter – and has been one of the brightest prospects to come through at the club in recent times.

It is thought that Sunderland are one of the teams in the hunt for his services, whilst Hull have also been linked with making a move for the 23-year-old earlier in the window.

Cleverley is another surprising player who could potentially depart Old Trafford before the end of the month. The midfielder has faced constant criticism during his time at the club so far, but still played 22 times in the Premier League last season and to drop him from contention entirely would be some statement from Van Gaal.

The name who is on the list, which doesn’t come as a shock, is Wilfried Zaha. The fleet-footed attacker has struggled to make the breakthrough at United ever since completing his move last year and a loan move would aid his development more than sitting in United’s reserve team – with Crystal Palace, QPR and Newcastle United all thought to be interested.
