Liverpool and Manchester United's U21s got a taste of what it's like to play out a huge fixture at Anfield yesterday.
Indeed, the great rivals' young stars faced off against each other at the famous ground, with both sides leaving with a share of the spoils.
There were no goals before the break, as both sides went into half-time goalless, but Jordan Lussey put Liverpool in front in the 64th minute with a well-taken free kick, before Tom Lawrence equalised for the visitors.
The result leaves United top of the table on goal difference, while Liverpool are now in third, although eight of the division's 12 sides have a game in hand over the pair.
Ryan McLaughlin, Kristoffer Peterson and Jordan Rossiter were all on show for the Reds but Manchester United's most high-profile squad member, Nick Powell, did not feature.
Powell has played for United's senior side and spent last season on loan at Wigan Athletic, where he amassed both Championship and Europa League experience, while also reaching the FA Cup semi-finals with the Latics.
Liverpool's clash with Man United won't be the last for these players this season, while the Reds will face United in the senior Premier League in December and host them at Anfield in April.
