PHOTOS: Alberto Moreno trains as Liverpool prepare for Manchester City

Brendan Rodgers led his side through training as the Reds prepared to face the Premier League champions.

All the talk may be about Mario Balotelli at Liverpool lately - but it is another new signing that is in line for his debut on Monday.

Indeed, with Balotelli yet to sign for the Reds, Alberto Moreno could be in line for his first appearance for the Anfield side against Manchester City.

And the Spaniard looks as though he's been listening carefully to what boss Brendan Rodgers has had to say in training. The Northern Irishman was putting his side through their paces at Melwood as they prepared to face the Premier League champions at the Etihad Stadium on Monday.

Moreno, who Liverpool signed from Sevilla for £12 million last week, was present, while the likes of Steven Gerrard, Kolo Toure, Simon Mignolet, Mamadou Sakho, Javier Manquillo, Raheem Sterling, Emre Can, Lucas Leiva, Adam Lallana, Lazar Markovic and more were also pictured in practice.

The Reds will be itching to set the record straight at the Etihad, where City beat them 2-1 last season during a campaign that saw them pip Rodgers' side to the Premier League title by just two points.

The loss was not without its controversy, however, as Raheem Sterling had a goal wrongly disallowed for offside. Indeed, the Liverpool players will be hoping for a result closer to the 3-2 win they enjoyed over Man City at Anfield last term.

Sterling scored again, while Martin Skrtel and Philippe Coutinho also netted in a thrilling victory.

Here are the best images from Liverpool's training session, where they were gearing up to go through the drama all over again:
