Should Everton raid Chelsea again for Barkley replacement?

Is Marco van Ginkel the man to replace the crocked England international?

Everton have been dealt a big blow early on this season with the news that Ross Barkley could miss the majority of the season with what appears to be a nasty knee problem picked up in training.

The England international had a breakthrough campaign at Goodison Park last term, and would have been hopeful to push on again this season at both domestic and international level.

With Barkley out Everton will of course be awaiting the return to fitness of Darron Gibson, however they are likely to need another central midfield option to replace the crocked young star.

So should they raid their favourite stomping ground for a replacement?

Everton have developed a good relationship with Chelsea in recent times, bringing in Romelu Lukaku initially on loan and then permanently, and this summer Christian Atsu.

So should they move for Marco van Ginkel?

His agent confirmed yesterday the player was open to an exit, stating:

"We are in talks with Chelsea. Of course Marco wants to fight for his chance, but there must be some perspective. We are waiting for a response from Chelsea as to how they see things."

Van Ginkel himself had a terrible season last year with knee problems, and is now on the fringes at Stamford Bridge. But Chelsea need to rid themselves of a foreign player, and reports claim that Jose Mourinho is open to loaning out the Dutch international.

At just 21-years-old he is a great prospect and Chelsea will know that, and will not want to lose him permanently. But a loan deal in the Premier League could be a perfect solution to both Chelsea's and Everton's current problems this summer.
