Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has reiterated his belief that Chelsea will win the Premier League title this season.
Jose Mourinho’s side were sensational in their 3-1 victory over newly-promoted Burnley at Turf Moor in their opening game of the season on Monday.
Although Chelsea conceded an early goal, they staged a brilliant comeback and wrapped up the contest in the first 45 minutes.
Former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, who joined the Blues from Barcelona this summer, was the star of the show for the London outfit, playing a key role in the second and third goals.
Like everyone else, Owen was impressed with Chelsea’s performance against Burnley and has backed them to register yet another easy win against Leicester City at Stamford Bridge today.
‘I am quite confident, even at this very early stage, with my choice of Chelsea for the title as I thought the Blues were outstanding in the first half at Turf Moor, albeit, against a moderate Clarets’ side’, the 34-year-old former England international striker wrote on Betvictor.com.
‘I notice that Leicester are 17/1 for the win at Stamford Bridge with BetVictor but Chelsea have kept seven clean sheets in their last eight PL games on home soil and that might be the angle into the game’.
Chelsea will indeed head into today’s encounter as firm favourites, and it should not come as a surprise if they score two or three goals against Leicester without conceding any.
However, it would not be too wise to write off the chances of Nigel Pearson’s side just yet. After all, the Foxes held top-four chasing Everton to a 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium last weekend and will be pumped up to pull off a shock result in London.
