Manchester United transfer news: 23-year-old exit latest; loanee set to play

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United frontman Danny Welbeck has been linked with an Old Trafford exit in the last 24 hours or so. And now the Times reports that Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for the England international.

Spurs were first linked with Welbeck when it was suggested he had grown frustrated under former United manager David Moyes. And now Mauricio Pochettino’s side are said to be keen on bringing the 23-year-old to White Hart Lane this summer.

In other news, while Marcos Rojo’s work permit issues mean he will have to wait for his United debut, the player that moved in the opposite direction looks set for a game this weekend.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo reports that the paperwork has been lodged in time for Nani to make his (second) debut for Sporting Lisbon following his loan move to his former club.

And finally, the Daily Star reports that Paul Pogba’s imminent new contract at Juventus has seen him scupper United’s plans to bring him back to Old Trafford.

But let’s face it, the Frenchman was never heading back to the club he left in somewhat acrimonious circumstances. That ship has well and truly sailed, and Pogba is unlikely to have been a realistic target for quite some time.
