Manchester United target Vidal set to play first Juventus game of pre-season

Arturo Vidal is set to play for Juventus in the Trofeo TIM this evening.

Yesterday saw rumours of Angel Di Maria's impending exit from Manchester United gain massive momentum after he was left out of the Real Madrid squad for the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup.

Di Maria missed the 1-0 defeat to city rivals Atletico Madrid after informing Real the day before that he wanted to exit this summer.

Manchester United fans have obviously been immediately excited by the latest development. Louis van Gaal has admitted his admiration for the player this summer and he would represent the type of marquee signature that desperate United fans desire.

But another name that has been continually linked to United this summer has been Juventus superstar Arturo Vidal. The Chilean has reportedly been considering his future at the club this summer, after becoming frustrated with the lack of competition in the Italian league.

But unlike Di Maria, Vidal is playing for Juventus tonight.

The Bianconeri have confirmed their squad for the Trofeo TIM friendly tournament with Sassuolo and AC Milan tonight, with Vidal present in the heart of their midfield options. He is expected to play, in what will be his first game for Juve since facing off against Benfica back in May.

Vidal is certainly not forcing a move in the same manner as Di Maria at Real Madrid. The Chilean is happy to remain with Juventus, but is believed to have simply been considering his options this summer.

For Vidal the game is also significant because of his recent injury problems. The 27-year-old was given extra time to recover from his knee problems, which had not fully recovered when he went to the World Cup this summer.

Juventus fans will be looking forward to finally seeing their star man back in action after all the talk and conjecture over his future. With just a little over a week until the Transfer Window slams shut for the summer they will be hoping to see him on a regular basis this campaign, much to the pain of United fans.
