Liverpool’s £9.75m man: ‘I am a big beast’

Emre Can has been speaking after Liverpool kicked off their Premier League season last weekend.

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can believes the Premier League is the perfect place for him, and that Brendan Rodgers’ style suits him down to the ground.

The German player moved from Bayer Leverkusen in a £9.75m deal earlier this summer, and in an interview with Liverpool’s official website, he revealed what he thought of his new league and his new boss.

“The Brendan Rodgers style suits me, and I can adapt to it quickly,” Can said.

“In the Premier League there are a lot of ‘big beasts’. I am also one of them, so I am going to give it my best.

“The Premier League style suits me. To be a physical and strong player is important and I am looking forward to putting that to good use.”

Can may only be 20, but his confidence and his achievements to date are considerable and Liverpool may have a future midfield great on their hands.

Rumours persisted prior to his move to Anfield that his former club Bayern Munich wanted to bring him back to the Allianz Arena; a ground he left in the pursuit of first-team opportunities.

But the Reds got their man, and his talent and versatility are such that he will likely prove to be a very canny purchase by Rodgers.

If he can indeed become one of those top flight ‘beasts’ he has been talking about, success could be just around the corner for his new side.
