Chelsea’s £32 million summer signing Diego Costa has made quite an impression on his new team after joining from Spanish champions Atletico Madrid.
The Brazilian-born striker netted 36 goals in 52 appearances for Los Colchoneros last term and kicked off his Premier League career in similar goalscoring fashion with a neat finish at Burnley on Monday.
Despite no queries being brought up over the striker’s ability in front of goal, teammate Eden Hazard did have a slight doubt over another of Costa’s characteristics – his apparent age.
Speaking to Sky Sports show Soccer AM, the Belgian international playfully mocked his teammate’s rugged look by suggesting that he looks old for a 25-year-old.
“He looks old, I think he’s old. He is 25 but I don’t know if it is true.” he is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
Alongside former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas, Costa has been one of the Blues’ big-money signings this summer and the two are expected to make a huge difference this term.
Last season, Jose Mourinho’s side ultimately lost out on the title due to their inability to break down the Premier League’s so-called lesser teams.
A lack of cutting edge or a killer instinct in front of goal has been cited as the main cause, but now that such frailties have been eradicated, the Blues are arguably rightful favourites for the title.
'They are very good I think Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas play very well and they are now in the team,' added Hazard.
