Newcastle United and Aston Villa shared the spoils at Villa Park in Saturday's early kick-off, with neither side able to find the breakthrough goal.
Despite that the match was not short on incident, with the Magpies enjoying the majority of possession and having four of their 11 shots on target. In comparison, Villa failed to find the target with any of their nine efforts on goal.
Newcastle's Mike Williamson was sent off late on for a second bookable offence, while debutant Siem de Jong impressed after coming on in the second half and could have won the match for Alan Pardew's side.
As for Villa, they need more firepower if this season is not going to be one of relative mediocrity. After all, no shots on target at home simply is not good enough.
That said, Paul Lambert's side did climb to the top of the table with their point, while Newcastle went up to 13th.
