The Manchester City captain has been commenting on the club's new signings, and singled out the Chelsea legend for some praise.
Kompany told the Manchester Evening News: "Just watching Frank Lampard in training for example, people won’t tip him as one of the players to make the biggest difference for us this season but he looks amazing, unbelievable."
36-year-old Lampard is currently at City on a six-month loan deal before he links up with MLS side New York City - after ending a 13-year stay at Stamford Bridge. The midfielder was part of the Blues' most successful spell, winning the Premier League three times, FA Cup five times, the Champions League and the Europa League.
Competition is fierce in the heart of the City midfield with Yaya Toure and Fernandinho forming a terrific combination in the middle, whilst new signing Fernando has also made a good impression since signing for the club this summer.
But given City are competing for trophies on four fronts, his pedigree and experience could prove vital in the dressing room during his time at the Etihad Stadium. Whilst they have all tasted winning, having someone around who has been a winner for a fairly prolonged period will help the side as well.
Though some would regard Lampard as a player in the autumn of his career, Kompany seems to suggest he can still perform at the highest level and can make a valuable contribution to Manchester City's season.
