Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko is not underestimating Monday night's opponents, saying that Liverpool are a good team with a great manager.
City and Liverpool lock horns for the first time since last season's epic title race which saw City claim their second Premier League title in three years, finishing two points ahead of a Liverpool side who weren't expected to challenge for the league.
He told the official Manchester City website: “They played some amazing football last season and they were just behind us at the end of the season.
“Hopefully they can be behind us at the end of this season as well because they are a very good team with a great manager.
“They’re a great club and they will come here and try to win but we’re at home and I think we have an amazing team as well."
The two sides played out two very entertaining games last season with the home side prevailing by the odd goal on each occasion. Dzeko is anticipating a tough test from the Reds but also thinks that around five or six sides could challenge for the title.
If this Monday's game is anything like that last two meetings between the two sides then the watching public should be in for a treat.
