Arsenal latest: United striker linked and new suitors in Podolski hunt

Lukas Podolski Pre FA Cup Press Conference

All the latest news and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates.

Manchester United have reportedly informed Danny Welbeck he can leave the club this summer, despite Louis van Gaal stating today that nothing was agreed on the future of the England international.

But with the rumours knocking around today it is now being reported that Arsenal are keen on his services.

The Gunners are still believed to be in the race for another striker, despite Arsene Wenger suggesting otherwise.

United however are not believed to want to sell Welbeck to a Premier League rival, which could complicate matters.

Tottenham are also believed to be keen - as are Newcastle United and Hull City.

Rumours over the future of Lukas Podolski continue to rumble on as VfL Wolfsburg are now said to be entering the race for his services.

The German World Cup winner is reportedly available at The Emirates this summer, despite Wenger confirming no bids have yet been made for the player.

Galatasaray were previously linked with his signature, however they have now ruled out a move for the popular forward.

Wolfsburg however have plenty of money to spend and are still looking for more attacking options this summer. If he did sign, he would join Nicklas Bendtner at the Volkswagen Arena.

Reports in Spain are suggesting that Arsenal are the frontrunners for the signature of Alex Song, as a solution to the club's defensive midfield options.

Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Sami Khedira and William Carvalho this week, however the Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo believe that he will do much as he did last summer with Mathieu Flamini, by bringing in a former player on the cheap.

Barcelona are willing to loan the player, or sell him for £10 million, so Arsenal have plenty of options if they wish to bring him back.
