All the latest summer transfer news from Serie A...
The only place to start today's round up of Italian transfer news is with the shock deal which will see AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli leave the San Siro for Liverpool in a £16m transfer. The 24-year-old former Manchester City forward will return to England as Luis Suarez's replacement at Anfield, and forces Milan to hit the transfer market in search of a replacement with just 11 days to go until the deadline.
A number of forwards have already been linked with Pippo Inzaghi's side, with deals for Napoli's Goran Pandev and Porto's Jackson Martinez allegedly in the pipeline. Further speculation suggests that the club have drawn up a shortlist of targets, which includes Manchester City's Alvaro Negredo, Manchester United's Javier Hernandez and Tottenham Hotspur's Roberto Soldado.
Elsewhere in Italy, Roma are seemingly preparing themselves for life without Mehdi Benatia. Their star centre back has been the subject of interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United in recent days, with reports now speculating that the Moroccan will leave the Stadio Olimpico if Roma's €30m valuation is met in the coming days.
With the former Udinese man looking more and more likely to be making a move away from the Italian capital, Roma have started to plan for his replacement. Cagliari's Davide Astori has already joined Brazilian Leandro Castan at the club, and a third centre back looks set to join the mix in Tottenham's Vlad Chiriches. The Romanian international struggled to make an impact at White Hart Lane last season, and is on the verge of a €8m deal.
Finally, Napoli's deal to sign Jonathan de Guzman means that a potential move for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is off. The Belgian, 26, is on the fringes of the United team having endured a torrid first season at Old Trafford, and looked poised for a loan move to Napoli - but it's now believed that president Aurelio De Laurentiis has blocked the move over the midfielder's injury.
