All the latest summer transfer news from La Liga...

After the departure of Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona, Arsenal have been linked with a whole host of centre backs. The likes of Matija Nastasic (Manchester City), Daniel Agger (Liverpool) and Kostas Manolas (Olympiacos) have all been suggested transfer targets for Arsene Wenger, but now it seems that the Frenchman is looking to sign one of Vermaelen's international team mates.

Atletico Madrid's Toby Alderweireld, 25, has been on the fringes of Diego Simeone's side, mostly playing second fiddle to first choice centre back pairing Miranda and Diego Godin. Now having been left out of the Atletico squad to face Real Madrid on Tuesday night, it seems his future lies away from the Spanish capital, and Wenger is hoping to capitalise by bringing the former Ajax star to the Emirates Stadium, according to reports in Belgium.

Atletico have been busy this summer as they try to repair their squad, with the likes of Jan Oblak, Guilherme Siqueira, Cristian Ansaldi, Antoine Griezmann and Mario Mandzukic, replacing Thibaut Courtois, Filipe Luis and Diego Costa in the process.

Now looking for more signings, Simeone has reportedly added Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri and Napoli forward Goran Pandev to his shopping list in a bid to retain the La Liga title this season.

Staying in Madrid, Real have been dealt a blow as midfielder Angel di Maria has declared his intention to leave the club amid interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

"Di Maria asked to go in the summer and has rejected an offer from the club," said manager Carlo Ancelotti. "The player has to look for a solution. If when the transfer market closes he's still here, he will work with us like last season and there will be no problem."

Elsewhere, Sevilla are set to land a replacement for now-Liverpool left back Alberto Moreno after talks with Dynamo Kiev progressed over a transfer for French full back Benoit Tremoulinas.
