Liverpool transfer news, approach for Balotelli, Agger departure likely

A selection of the latest transfer surrounding Liverpool Football Club this Thursday morning.

The rumours linking Mario Balotelli with a move to Liverpool may have more to them than first thought, as several national newspapers have reported that the club has approached AC Milan regarding the Italian's services, and a possible loan move could be on the cards.

Reports are indicating that Milan would prefer a permanent deal for the 24-year-old, and his agent Mino Raiola has flown to England to find out what Liverpool want to do.

The Liverpool Echo is reporting that Liverpool are still keen on Monaco star Radamel Falcao, and are not put off by the prospect of paying a £12 million loan fee in order to land the striker. However, it is understood that Real Madrid is the Colombian's preferred destination.

Brendan Rodgers has made no secret of the fact Liverpool need another striker at the club, having only had Daniel Sturridge and Rickie Lambert at his disposal for the opening day win against Southampton on Sunday.

The Echo is also reporting that Liverpool are willing to offload a number of players between now and the end of the transfer window - with Daniel Agger the most high profile member of the squad who could leave.

It has been reported over the past few weeks that Agger has told Brendan Rodgers he wants to leave the club after falling further down the pecking order following the signing of centre-back Dejan Lovren.

Jordon Ibe was linked with a move to Bolton Wanderers yesterday but the Echo's report suggests that Derby County are now favourites to land the promising 18-year-old on loan. Oussama Assaidi, Sebastian Coates, Jack Robinson are likely to play their football elsewhere this season - whilst Fabio Borini's future is still said to be uncertain.
