The Daily Mail claims Petr Cech feels as though he has been left in the dark over his Chelsea future.
That decision by Jose Mourinho has created mass speculation over Cech’s future and he’s thought to want complete clarity over his role at Stamford Bridge before making a decision.
“Petr Cech wants assurances over his Chelsea future as Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco manoeuvre themselves into position to strike for the goalkeeper,” writes Sami Mokbel.
“Cech feels he has been left in the dark over his first-team prospects following the return of Courtois from Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.”
There is huge value in Chelsea keeping Cech because he’s been one of the most consistent goalkeepers in Europe since he’s been at the club.
However, that seems to be dependant on him accepting that he’s going to play second fiddle to Courtois for this season who looks set to be Chelsea’s goalkeeper for well over a decade.
Cech is someone who could help Courtois nurture his game and become a much better all round goalkeeper but at 32-years-old, he may not want to settle down into that mentor type role just yet.
Cech could easily play at the top level for another five years and it’s important for Chelsea that if he does move on, they leave things on a positive note because he’s a great individual to have coming back at some point in the future.
Cech would be a superb person to have coming back to the club as a coach in the future but this report from the Daily Mail suggests that Chelsea are threatening to leave things on a sour note.
If that happens, it would be a shame considering the success and history that Cech and Chelsea have built together over a number of years.
