All the latest summer transfer news from La Liga...
The big news of the day from La Liga was concerning Barcelona's transfer ban. The club were initially prevented from signing or selling players on April 2nd having breached regulations over the signing of Under-18 players, but the Catalan club appealed to FIFA, meaning there was a huge delay in the process, allowing Barcelona to snap up the likes of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Claudio Bravo, Jeremy Mathieu, Thomas Vermaelen, Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez.
Yet now, FIFA have thrown out Barca's appeal, meaning that the La Liga giants now can't sign players in the next two transfer windows, running until January 1st, 2016. Barcelona may appeal again, this time to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but it seems unlikely that they'd overrule the decision.
Now, rumours persist that Barcelona will move huge bids to land a number of stars given that they won't be able to sign any players for some time. Speculation suggests that Barcelona will try to sign Fiorentina's Juan Cuadrado, Atletico Madrid's Koke and Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus, before loaning them back to their original clubs for the season to try and sweeten the deals.
MD and Sport: Barça could try signing Reus, Koke and Cuadrado in the coming 12 days then loan them for a season. Extremely improbable.— Sergi Domínguez (@FutbolSergi) August 20, 2014
Elsewhere, Valencia's pillaging of Benfica looks set to continue. New manager Nuno has already swooped to sign Andre Gomes and Rodrigo Moreno, and have now wrapped up the signature of right back Joao Cancelo, with Argentine midfielder Enzo Perez expected to arrive to make it four signings from the Portuguese outfit.
