Arsenal transfer news: Manolas linked again; £40m Costa could leave

Emirates at Sunset

All the latest transfer news and gossip from The Emirates this morning.

After last night's draw with Besiktas in the Champions League Arsene Wenger admitted that Arsenal were 'thin on the ground' defensively but that they were also 'not close to signing anybody'.

However it now appears that Manolas is Arsenal bound. Several reports suggest he is undergoing a medical today, although a pinch of salt is required. Several sources claimed the same on Sunday - when no such truth proved to be accurate.

The Greek international has also been linked with Bayern Munich and has been told he is free to leave the Greek club.

Arsenal have been linked with Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Douglas Costa this summer. But that interest seemed dead when the Ukrainian side suggested he would cost £40 million. However his manager Mircea Lucescu has now confirmed he might leave the club:

"I am sure that things will come to the fore in the next few weeks. For me, all the players are transferable for the right price. Every year, some players go and some players arrive. It’s normal that players will want to leave at some point."

Costa wants out of the troubled Eastern Ukraine city and a season-long loan deal has been mooted.

Yesterday saw Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini seemingly admit that defender Matija Nastasic, who has been linked with Arsenal, could leave the Premier League champions.

However, it is now being reported he favours a move back to Italy, with champions Juventus the new favourites to snap him up this summer.

Meanwhile it is again being reported in France that Arsenal are close to signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot for £5.5 million.
