Fans have voted on who they think will be the top scorer in the Premier League this season and Diego Costa is the man that the majority are backing.
The striker opened his Chelsea account against Burnley last night with an emphatic strike following a rebound during the 3-1 win.
Of those who took part, 33% backed Costa to be the top scorer, with Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge narrowly behind him at 30%.
Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney was next with 21%, Sergio Aguero polled 11% of the votes and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku collected 4% of the votes from fans who took part.
Both Sturridge and Costa are level after one game with decisive strikes for their sides after the first round of league games.
They are each under similar types of pressure with Costa carrying the burden for Chelsea’s attack while Sturridge has been tasked with the job of filling the void created by Luis Suarez’ departure to Barcelona.
It will be fascinating if they can keep their noses in front in the race for the golden boot.
