Tottenham Hotspur transfer news: Assou-Ekotto to leave for free, Bernard loan move on

A round up of transfer stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto could leave the club on a free transfer.

The defender has struggled recently to break into the first team, spending time on loan at Queens Park Rangers.

Spurs already have Ben Davies and Danny Rose available in the left-back position.

Spurs are one of the sides thought to be interested in a loan swoop for Brazilian ace Bernard.

He is reportedly keen on leaving Shakhtar Donetsk due to political unrest in Ukraine.

The Express reports that Spurs will have competition from local rivals Arsenal if they try and put together a deal to sign him.

Spurs have rejected an offer from Southampton for winger Andros Townsend.

The offer is reported to have been in the region of £10 million and it’s unclear whether the Saints will come back to the table with an increased bid.

Townsend broke into the Spurs first team this time last year before injury forced him out of the side over the second half of the season.
