Manchester City latest: Defender's loan move; Hart’s fighting talk and £4m striker switch tipped

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has been speaking about the competition for a starting-berth with new arrival Willy Caballero.

In quotes published in the Express, the England international said of the former Malaga player’s arrival, “I wouldn’t say it’s given me an extra edge because I’ve always had an edge.

“Caballero is a great signing. It suits me. I’m a fighter. I’ve been a fighter all my life. I’ll continue to do that.

“He wants to play as much as I do. But I’ve got the place at the moment and I’m going to do everything I can to keep it.”

Fighting talk indeed from a player who knows what it is like to lose the starting-spot at City after spending a spell on the bench last season.

But having been temporarily usurped by Costel Pantilimon it appears Hart has no intention of suffering the same fate this time out.

In other news, the Manchester Evening News reports that John Guidetti could be on his way back to Feyenoord.

The report claims the initial move could be on loan, as the Dutch club seek to ensure the City striker is over his injury woes. But that it could ultimately lead to a £4million permanent switch.

And finally, City player Adam Drury has joined Scottish side St Mirren on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old has previously spent a spell on loan at Burton Albion, and will be looking to make a name for himself in the SPL after impressing for Patrick Vieira’s EDS side.
