La Liga transfer latest: Barcelona desperate to let ex-Arsenal star leave

Alex Song

All the latest summer transfer news from La Liga...

Barcelona's summer revolution has already seen a whole host of changes; manager Luis Enrique is in to replace Gerardo Martino, whilst signings Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Claudio Bravo, Jeremy Mathieu, Thomas Vermaelen, Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez have arrived to replace the likes of Victor Valdes, Pinto, Carles Puyol, Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez.

Another player who has been linked with an exit before the transfer deadline is former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song, with the Cameroonian international well down the pecking order at the Camp Nou. The likes of Chelsea, Everton and Manchester United have all been linked with moves for Song, and now reports suggest that Barcelona are willing to let him leave on a free season-long loan just to get rid of him.

One player to have already left the club on loan is winger Gerard Deulofeu. The youngster, who spent last season at Everton, was expected to break into the Barcelona first team this season but after the arrival of Luis Suarez, manager Enrique decided to let him go out on loan to Sevilla - and Deulofeu is keen to prove Enrique wrong for letting him leave.

"My departure surprised me a bit, they made me come back from Everton and then later they told me I wouldn’t get minutes. But I don’t want to talk much about Barca, I want to talk about the year I am going to have here. I know that I am lacking some things from a defensive aspect and I will work to improve that. One of my aims is to show Luis Enrique he was wrong and above all show it to myself."

Elsewhere, Valencia have already added the likes of Shkrodan Mustafi, Lucas Orban, Andre Gomes, Rodrigo de Paul and Rodrigo Moreno, but new manager Nuno has added another new signing in the form of Manchester City midfielder Bruno Zuculini. The former Racing Club de Avellaneda star - where he was a team mate of de Paul's - recently joined City, but Manuel Pellegrini's side have chosen to let him get some experience in Spain this season with a loan spell.
