Chelsea transfer news: Courting Courtois, Khedira and William Carvalho

All the latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours including a new deal for Thibaut Courtois, updates on Real Madrid man and pursuit for Portuguese star.

Chelsea's 3-1 victory over Burnley last night at Turf Moor has seen them storm to the top of the Premier League table - and the contributions of Spanish summer signings Francesc Fabregas and Diego Costa and World Cup winning German; Andre Schurrle, has been noticed by the press in their home-lands.

Kicker and BILD waxed lyrical over Schurrle's strike having capitalised on an assist from Fabregas. It was the "perfect" start.

Catalan publication Sport, meanwhile, claimed Cesc is now the "leader" at Chelsea due to his prolific ability to create chances for his team-mates and El Mundo Deportivo commented on the pass for Schurrle's goal - "sensational", they wrote.

A one-time transfer target for Chelsea, Sami Khedira, is set to once again be snubbed by Real Madrid as the World Cup winning German will be forced to watch from the sidelines as Los Blancos contest the Spanish Super Cup later this evening, Tuesday.

His omission from the line-up sees his name continue to be linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Chelsea the mooted destinations, however, even if the transfer fee was at a cut-price, wage demands would still make a move to the Gunners unlikely.

MARCA persist with the links to London. But The Express report that the player has his heart set on a move to Bayern Munich.

Perhaps Chelsea's lack of official interest in Khedira is because they feel they can obtain a younger version of the defensive midfielder - one who has, perhaps, even more potential and certainly a player who creates a greater on-pitch impression in terms of tackling prolificacy.

The Metro note that the Blues are ready to offer a bid of £35 million to Sporting Lisbon, which A Bola believe is just £2 million shy of an apparent get-out clause.

And finally, now that Thibaut Courtois has usurped Petr Cech as the club's number one, the young Belgian is ready to commit to a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea reportedly courted the player over a new contract throughout the summer.
