Manchester United transfer news: Strootman back on agenda; Argentine duo latest

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Given their opening day defeat to Swansea City, it is no surprise that the transfer news relating to Manchester United is coming thick and fast at the moment. And it is the usual suspects making headlines once again.

The Daily Mail claims United are willing to spend a total of £100million to bring Angel Di Maria to Old Trafford from Real Madrid.

The report claims that would include the Argentine’s £50million transfer fee and a five-year, £200,000-a-week deal.

It would certainly be an enticing offer, and Di Maria would be the first superstar name to arrive at Old Trafford for a while. But until it happens, United fans will be forgiven for remaining reticent.

In other news, Kevin Strootman is reportedly back on the agenda, with the Express claiming Louis van Gaal could turn to the Dutch international with a move for Arturo Vidal looking increasingly unlikely.

It had been suggested that United would move for the Roma player in January – once he had fully recovered from the injury that robbed him of a World Cup place and much of last season – but needs must.

Again, this rumour could be one to take with a pinch of salt.

And then there are the Marcos Rojo reports, which rumble on despite the player making a public apology in Portugal on Sunday evening and revealing he would be back training with his teammates today.

United have two weeks to ensure they have a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title this season…and the clock is ticking.
