All the latest summer transfer news from La Liga...
Real Madrid have been busy this summer, splashing out almost £100m on Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas, Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos and Monaco playmaker James Rodriguez. Despite the Galacticos tag, Madrid are somewhat interested in at least attempting to balance the books - and midfielder Sami Khedira looks like the most likely player to leave the club.
The German has been pushed down the pecking order by the arrival of his international team mate Kroos, and with his contract expiring next summer, the club want to get whatever money they can now to prevent him leaving for free in a year. Reports today suggest that Arsenal and Chelsea are both interested in moves for Khedira, with the price tag dropping once again - last week it was cut to around £20m, but now it could be as low as £12m, with Madrid increasingly desperate to sell.
Another Madrid star being pushed out is Argentine winger Angel di Maria. The 26-year-old is unlikely to play on a regular basis given that Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and the aforementioned Rodriguez are all ahead of him in the pecking order. Reports today have once again linked di Maria with a move away to Manchester United, with the Red Devils willing to pay big money in order to land the former Benfica star.
Speculation suggests that United are lining up a £50m swoop for di Maria, with a £200,000-per-week, five-year contract on the table - which would take the total cost of the deal to around £100m, with United crying out for a world class signing to appease fans.
United are also interested in signing Roma's Mehdi Benatia, but some believe that Bayern Munich are leading the race for the Moroccan international. The Red Devils have been handed a boost after it was today reported that Bayern sporting director Michael Reschke has flown to Madrid in order to try and complete a deal for Atletico Madrid's Uruguayan international centre back Diego Godin.
