Mikel Arteta has compared Aaron Ramsey to Cesc Fabregas.
Arsenal decided not to sign Cesc Fabregas this summer, a decision which looked questionable given he then landed up with Premier League rivals Chelsea.
While that move may still perplex some, the emergence of Aaron Ramsey is causing most to forget about the Spaniard.
New club captain Mikel Arteta believes the Welshman shares similarities with the former Barcelona man, and sees a likeness.
Arteta told Arsenal.com: "He reminds me a little bit of Fabregas when he was here. At his best, he was coming off the front, making the final ball and scoring very important goals.
“I think his confidence is really high at the moment, physically he can do whatever he wants and technically he is in a very good state so he is one of the most important players in the team.
“I think he will get better with experience, with knowledge and confidence. People have a fear now with him because they know he can create things and that gives you an extra yard, which is very important."
Ramsey scored an impressive 16 goals in all competitions last season, an amazing statistic for a midfielder considering he missed three months of action through injury.
The most Cesc scored for the Gunners was 19, in 2009/10, but with two under his belt already if counting the Community Shield, the Welshman will be confident he can outclass the Chelsea man's past and present by smashing through the 20-goal barrier this campaign.
Can Ramsey become better than Fabregas?
