Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori is closing in on a loan move to French side Bordeaux according to reports.
Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio – a man in the know when it comes to transfers – has claimed on Monday that the young centre-back is waiting for the deal to be finalised having agreed to a one-year stint in Ligue 1.
If the move goes through, it will follow Ilori’s loan spell at Spanish side Granada last season, during which he made nine appearances and provided one glorious assist.
The player arrived at Anfield from Sporting Lisbon for a reported £7million last summer. But despite being highly regarded it appears Brendan Rodgers is not yet ready to put his faith in the 21-year-old on a regular basis.
In time Ilori could go on to become an integral part of Liverpool’s squad, but for now it appears his footballing education will continue with what is fast becoming a tour of Europe’s top leagues.
Di Marzio claims the contract will soon be signed and Ilori will join up with his new club in due course.
