The Sun report that Harry Redknapp was interested in two younger Englishmen in Andros Townsend and Harry Kane, but both Spurs academy graduates played in the North London club's win over West Ham, and are likely to be very much involved in the squad this season.
Tottenham will hope that the offer of their captain and a substantial cash figure will convince the Hoops to let the France international depart, especially considering that Redknapp has implemented a trio of centre backs in the lead up to and beginning of the season.
The signing of Remy would be a significant reinforcement to the Tottenham forward line, given his strong goalscoring exploits at Newcastle last season of 14 goals in 26 games. The Frenchman looked set for a move to Liverpool earlier in the summer, but saw his switch cancelled at the last minute with the Anfield club blaming a failed medical.
Remy is capable of playing wide as well as through the middle, meaning he is the kind of versatile forward Mauricio Pochettino likes to utilise.
If Dawson was to link up with his old Spurs manager in West London he would likely line up alongside both Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand and ex Spur Steven Caulker, meaning all three central defenders would have represented England.
The Tottenham captain has struggled at times over the last couple of seasons, playing in a back four that employs a high line. He remains an excellent defender though, and would be a valuable addition to any side that goes with three at the back.
