Mesut Ozil reacts to Arsenal’s late win against Crystal Palace

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil was delighted with his side’s last-gasp 2-1 home victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.

Arsenal left it late against Crystal Palace but eventually they got the three points in their opening game of the new Premier League season. And that’s the most important thing, according to star midfielder Mesut Ozil.

The Germany international was not part of the Gunners’ squad for the clash against Palace at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, as he returned to training just days ago and is not fully fit.

However, that did not stop Ozil from watching the game and then express his delight at Arsenal scoring an injury-time goal to win it 2-1 (click here to read more).

Arsenal were expected to ease past Palace on Saturday and they did indeed dominate in the opening minutes.

However, it was Palace who took the lead at the Emirates on 35 minutes when Brede Hangeland headed home from close range.

Arsenal restored parity just before half time through Laurent Koscielny, who nodded in Alexis Sanchez’s well-measured free kick from just yards out.

Arsene Wenger’s side continued to ask questions of the Palace defence in the second half, but it was only in injury time that they could secure the three points after Palace star Jason Puncheon had been sent off for a second bookable offence.

It was last season’s hero Aaron Ramsey again who popped up inside the Palace area to slam home from the edge of the six-yard box.

The North London club’s performance against Palace was not the best, but it was the first game of the campaign. Things can only improve for Arsenal.
