Tottenham Hotspur star Erik Lamela may not have had the best of times against West Ham United, but he was still happy with his side’s victory at Boleyn Ground.
Spurs kicked off their 2014-15 Premier League campaign with a narrow 1-0 win against their London neighbours on Saturday in a game that saw both sides finish with 10 players.
Lamela, who joined Tottenham from AS Roma for a transfer fee of £30 million last summer, started the match, but he failed to make any significant impact.
The Argentina international winger went past two West Ham players early on and showed his quality in flashes.

Overall, it was a disappointing performance from the player expected to rise to the occasion this season, and he was substituted just past the hour mark.
Nevertheless, Lamela was delighted with the win and took to Instagram to post the following photo with the message: ‘How exciting start winning the championship this way! Congratulations to the team and all the people who came to us !!’

The hero of the day for Tottenham was a certain Eric Dier. The 20-year-old centre-back, who was making his debut for the North London club after joining them from Sporting Lisbon earlier this month, scored the winning goal in injury time.
Tottenham’s performance left much to be desired, but manager Mauricio Pochettino will be just happy to have picked up all three points in his first Premier League game in charge of the Lilywhites.
