Gary Lineker: Bring back Moyes!

The former Tottenham Hotspur and England striker gave his humorous take on Manchester United's 2-1 defeat to Swansea City.

Gary Lineker rubbed salt on Louis van Gaal's wounds by joking that Man United should bring back former manager David Moyes.

Moyes was sacked in his first season at Old Trafford - despite being given a six-year contract. One thing the Scot can boast, however, is that he won his Premier League opener 4-1 at Swansea City.

This time around, United found themselves on the losing side against the Swans - and during a home game, at that.

After Ki Sung-Yueng had put Garry Monk's side 1-0 up, Lineker tweeted:

Things got better for Van Gaal in the second half when new United captain Wayne Rooney scored an acrobatic equaliser - but Gylfi Sigurdsson later put the visitors back in the lead.

And the Dutchman's pride took a further hit when Swansea fans chanted 'you're getting sacked in the morning.'

United will be looking for a better showing in their next Premier League clash - a trip to Sunderland on August 24th.

Supporters, meanwhile, may be looking for the club's owners to invest in new players, considering the standard of some of their side's performances during the first game of the season.

At full-time, Lineker added:
