In an interview with MCV, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, spoke about his take on the upcoming next gen remaster of Grand Theft Auto V. The game is due for release sometime this Autumn on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
When speaking about the huge sales GTA V has racked up on PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles since its launch in September last year, Zelnick said, ‘one way to look at it is that 34m copies have been sold, but there’s 7bn people on Earth. So we have over 6.9bn people left to address.’
When the next gen version of the game was announced at E3 in June this year, the trailer was more than impressive – higher resolution textures, lush grass and trees, an all-round better looking version of the game we all loved from last gen. Confident in the title, Zelnick added, ‘GTA is the standard bearer in the industry. How can you buy a next-gen console and not want to play GTA on it?’
Zelnick also assures us that Rockstar ‘want to blow consumers away’ with the next gen version. He also says that when you’re comparing the game to your expectations, he can ‘guarantee it will be better.’
Well, we’ve no doubt it certainly looks better from what little we’ve seen. And with only about 4 months left in the year, we haven’t got too long before we’ll all be able to see what he’s talking about.

We all know the new GTA V looks great from that E3 trailer, but do you think it's as good as Take-Two are claiming?
