All the latest summer transfer news from Serie A...
With Arsenal fans still looking for more attacking reinforcements this summer, the club have been linked with a move to sign Napoli forward Eduardo Vargas - Alexis Sanchez's strike partner with the Chilean national team. Amid reports of a €12m move to either the Emirates Stadium or Valencia, Vargas' agent Cristian Ogalde has confirmed that the club have a number of offers for his client.
"Edu is working well and will fight as long as he possibly can to earn a place in the Napoli shirt," said "He has a very good rapport with Benitez. We are also evaluating a possible loan move and I have received many offers. We knew his return to Napoli would be very difficult, as they have other priorities."
Elsewhere, Roma striker Mattia Destro continues to be linked with a move away from the Italian capital. After 13 goals in 20 games, Destro became very highly rated last season, and reports suggest that Tottenham are lining up a big money move to bring the 23-year-old to North London.
If Destro does indeed leave the club, then Roma boss Rudi Garcia will need to bring in a replacement to boost his attack, and there is plenty of speculation that he will target Manchester City's Stevan Jovetic. The Montenegrin international has struggled to make an impact since his move to England last summer, and Roma could offer him a return to Serie A as a replacement for Destro.
Meanwhile, Liverpool's move to sign Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero could be in doubt after the Serie A side turned their attention away from Reds centre back Sebastian Coates in order to pursue Benfica's Lisandro Lopez. A swap deal had been mooted, but if Sampdoria now want Lopez, then Romero's switch to Anfield would be unlikely - for now at least.
Finally, Cagliari's bid to sign former Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has been abandoned after the 37-year-old failed three medicals. The Spaniard, who left Watford at the end of last season, remains a free agent, but will struggle to find a new club after this news.
