Nani is reportedly a loan target for his former club Sporting Lisbon, with the Portuguese side said to have opened talks with Manchester United.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola has picked up on initial claims from Italy that the United winger could finally be on his way after a disappointing career at Old Trafford.
The winger came on as a second-half substitute in Louis van Gaal’s first competitive match in charge, but he could not inspire his club to a victory, with United suffering a 2-1 defeat to Swansea City.
Nani has flattered to deceive for much of his time in England, with a brief spell in 2010 – during which he looked unbeatable – consigned to the annals of history now.
Since then he has failed to push on and has been linked with switches to both Italy and Portugal in the past.
The latest claim is that he could be heading back to the club where he made his name, something he is reportedly open to as he seeks regular first-team football.
The report concludes by stating that the move may not just result in a player leaving Old Trafford, but possibly one arriving too.
Sporting defender Marcos Rojo has been heavily linked with United in recent days, with a £16million offer reportedly being made and the player allegedly desperate for the move to go through.
A Bola claims the Nani deal could “unlock” Rojo’s transfer to Old Trafford. But then again that may simply be a case of taking two and two and coming up with five.
