Arturo Vidal’s future is still in limbo as a deal between Juventus and Manchester United does not appear to be close.
The Chile international midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to the Red Devils throughout the summer, but he is still on the books of the Italian champions.
In fact, Vidal is on a pre-season tour of Asia and Australia with Juventus, and appears to be happy carrying on for the Bianconeri for now.
However, on Friday, the 27-year-old appeared to drop a ‘massive hint’ that he is on his way to United when he refused to confirm his future at Juventus to a supporter during a training session at the National Stadium in Singapore.
‘My future is to train well’, Vidal told a fan with a smirk when asked about his future with Massimiliano Allegri’s side.
According to The Express, this is a ‘massive hint’ that Vidal ‘will leave Juventus’ this summer and join Louis van Gaal’s United team.
On the face of it, it does appear that Vidal dropped a hint about his future. The former Bayer Leverkusen star could have easily told the supporter that he will remain at Juventus, or given a more concrete answer.
Just saying that he is only focused on training at the moment does indicate that Vidal himself does not know where his future lies.
The ex-Colo-Colo midfielder has hinted from time to time this summer that he is open to joining United, and he appears to have done the same on Friday.
However, one has to invariably ask if one can rely on this report at all. After all, Vidal was making a statement to a fan – not a journalist, but to a fan, and that too while signing autographs and being surrounded by other spectators.
Moreover, was that really a ‘massive hint’? A hint maybe, but was it ‘massive’?
Answers on a postcard, please.
