Liverpool boss Rodgers gives Moreno update

Alberto Moreno playing for Sevilla

The Reds coach says a deal for the Sevilla defender should be completed 'very soon.'

Brendan Rodgers has hailed the potential capture of Alberto Moreno as a 'terrific signing' and says a deal for the Sevilla defender should be completed soon.

The 22-year-old is expected to move to Anfield for a reported fee of £12 million and Rodgers has confirmed the move should be concluded in the coming days.

Moreno, however, may not be ready to play in Liverpool's Premier League opener against Southampton on Sunday.

"The Alberto Moreno deal should be completed very soon and he’ll be a terrific signing for us if that’s done," Rodgers told reporters at a pre-match press conference.

The Reds boss also confirmed that Daniel Agger, Jon Flanagan, Adam Lallana and Lazar Markovic won't be available at the weekend.

"Young Jon Flanagan is still in rehab, but coming along very well," he said. "Adam Lallana is looking very well.

"Those two will probably start training with the group in the week beginning with Manchester City.

"Young Markovic is still unavailable this weekend but doing very well. Daniel Agger has had an ongoing injury so he is unavailable; apart from that, everyone else is fine."
