Atletico Madrid may have ratified the sale of influential striker Diego Costa, but they could be on the cusp of the deal of the whole summer as, according to the latest transfer news via Cadena COPE, the reigning La Liga champions are locked into negotiations with Borussia Dortmund star attacker Marco Reus, who is reportedly a target for Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.
Cope.es disclose parts of the offer that has allegedly been made to BvB and it includes €17 million payable now, with another €10 million due in January which amounts to a total of €27 million (£21.67 million).
"The possible signing of Marco Reus from Atletico Madrid is in the critical hours," Cadena COPE claim. "Borussia Dortmund and Atletico have long negotiated the transfer of the German player," but note that all that remains is the finalisation of the transfer fee involved (which could rise to €30 million/ £24.06 million) before permission would be granted to speak to the player.
"The arrival of Reus would be the icing on the new draft Simeone," Cope.es write. "El Cholo has asked the technical secretary to make a last ditch effort to get back to making a championship team."
Reus started 26 Bundesliga games in 2013-14, scoring 16 times from 110 shots and assisting 13 times from the creation of 90 goal-scoring opportunities.
In order to stay alive in the race for Reus, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United must attempt to match Atletico's offer, or improve on it.
Reus was recently handed the vice-captain's role at Dortmund.
Do you think Arsenal, Liverpool or Manchester United will be successful in the Reus push or is he a lock to leave Dortmund for Atletico Madrid?
