Arsenal’s players have been pictured in their final training session before the Premier League season starts.
The Gunners take on Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Saturday and they will be hoping to make a statement of intent for this season.
Expectations are high following a big-spending summer – with the transfers of Calum Chambers and Alexis Sanchez being of particular excitement for Arsenal fans – and they will be hoping to build on the momentum their transfer window has provided by beating Palace.
Their task of beating the Eagles should have been made easier due to the fact that the club have been thrown into turmoil by the departure of Tony Pulis.
Pulis guided Palace to 11th place in the Premier League last season and performed miracles with what appeared to be a limited squad.
However, a lack of transfer window activity this summer and failure to bring in his first-choice targets may have led to the unsuccessful emergency talks that took place earlier this week.
It is a move which has thrown Palace’s plans for the upcoming season into jeopardy, but Arsenal will be keen to ensure against complacency going into the fixture now.
Palace proved last season that they were a frustrating side to play against and Pulis’s rigid structure and disciplined organisation of the side will still be evident, considering his departure was only two days ago.
Arsenal fans can be encouraged, though, as the training session today looked to be completed at a high-intensity, with all their key players involved.
