Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 15th August 2014, but a year earlier.
What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?
Here are some of the big scoops from the 15th August 2013…
It was late in the evening when it emerged that Arsenal had missed out on a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo.
Earlier in the week Arsenal had agreed a fee with Bayern believed to be in the £17 million region - and were believed to be discussing personal terms with the player over a potential move.
The player himself had openly admitted a desire to play for Arsenal so it seemed as though this deal would be a no-brainer.
But it was confirmed the next day that Gustavo had signed for Wolfsburg, as he wanted to remain in Germany.
Moyes makes noise
David Moyes was voicing his belief that the club would still make new signings before the beginning of the 2013-14 season. Then Manchester United boss Moyes stated:
"I'm confident we'll have players in. We're involved in several players we're looking at and that will continue. Will we get them before the deadline? I hope so, but we're working very hard to do so."
In the end they missed out on Cesc Fabregas and Ander Herrera and signed Marouane Fellaini - the precursor to Moyes terrible Manchester United reign.
Downing hits out at Rodgers
But Downing said he was surprised with the transfer:
"I spoke to the manager and he said he wanted me to stay. So I’m disappointed that one minute I was staying and the next minute I’m gone. It was a surprise because it happened so quick. One minute I was in the starting XI for Liverpool, and the next I was on my way to London."
