Nasdaq said Thursday afternoon that it is investigating an issue with stuck orders but that new orders were not affected.
Several orders placed between 2:01 p.m. and 2:03 p.m. on Thursday got stuck on gateways for The Nasdaq Stock Market, the company said in a statement.
The problem impacted "a small subset of orders during that time, new orders are not impacted and trading has been continuous," the Nasdaq statement said. "We are working to ensure a prompt resolution of this matter...."
Before the market closed, Nasdaq posted another message,stating that it had "corrected the earlier problem with stuck orders. Orders sent between 14:01-14:03 may have been affected. All systems are currently operating normally."
The exchange firm first raised a flag about the problem in an online note posted at 2:17 p.m., which said: "NASDAQ is Investigating an Issue with Stuck Orders. The problem has been identified and we are working to resolve the status of the affected orders. New orders are not impacted."
