Theo Walcott says that he is getting ‘quicker and stronger every day' after he posted a video of himself going through some sprinting exercises in Arsenal training today.
The jet-heeled attacker has been out for almost all of 2014 so far, after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during an FA Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur in January.
The injury was a major setback for Walcott, who missed out on going to the World Cup because of it and has also not been fit enough to play in any of the Gunner’s pre-season matches.
It means he will come into the new season rather lacking match-fitness, but he is nearing being able to play again and his update on Instagram about his current injury situation is sure to be positive news for Arsenal fans.
He posted the video of himself in training with the caption: "Getting #Stronger & #Quicker everyday!!!! #SpeedMatters"
When he does return to the first-team fold he will find his chances of being selected harder than ever before after Arsenal’s addition of Alexis Sanchez over the summer.
The Chilean boasts similar strengths to Walcott, but his statistics and performances over his career so far suggest that he is an upgrade on the England international.
It does mean that Arsene Wenger will have the luxury of bringing Walcott back into matches slowly, though, as Arsenal already have a wealth of attacking options at their disposal.
