MK Dons star, Ben Reeves, has given an insight into how it feels for a lower-league club’s players to be drawn against Manchester United by filming the League Cup draw on his phone.
Reeves, who joined MK Dons from Southampton last year, was with teammates Dele Ali, Lee Hodson and George Baldock when the draw was made and decided to film the process.
Little did he know then that it would give the League One side a home tie against Manchester United and, judging by the celebrations that go with it, it will be a game that MK are already looking forward to.
The tie will take place during the week of the 25th of August and the club will be expecting close a capacity crowd at Stadium:MK when they take on the Premier League giants.
They will be unlikely to win the match, but it seems their squad will relish the challenge of taking on some of the biggest names in English football as Louis van Gaal brings his United side down to Milton Keynes.
Karl Robinson’s side reached this round by winning a derby match against AFC Wimbledon 3-1 and they will feel this is fine reward for avoiding a cup upset in the highly-charged clash.
For now, though, their attentions will be firmly on their League One campaign where they will be hoping that they can finally achieve promotion after a succession of failed attempts in recent years.
They take on rivals Peterborough United this weekend and they will have to ensure that their focus is firmly on that match for the time being.
