Report: Barcelona want to sign Cuadrado, but not this summer

According to an Italian newspaper, Barcelona will beat Manchester United to Juan Cuadrado, but he won't join the Catalan club until 2015.

The battle for Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado carries on, but there may be a middle option that involves the Colombian international staying put for a year.

Manchester United and Barcelona are believed to be battling for Cuadrado's signature but Fiorentina are understandably reluctant to let go of such a prized asset.

It is widely believed that Barcelona have the advantage, possibly due to United being more concerned with Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.

But while it has been expected that Cuadrado will move before the end of the transfer window, Italian newspaper Il Corriere Fiorentino outlines another scenario.

The paper suggests that Fiorentina are likely to agree a deal with Barcelona for Cuadrado to move to the Camp Nou this time next year for a fee of around £25 million.

The solution may suit both parties with Barcelona landing their man and Fiorentina getting another year to try and push on for Champions League qualification and line up a replacement.

Reports regarding Cuadrado's wishes have been mixed. Some sources suggest that he is keen to take advantage of Barcelona's interest, but others feel he is happily settled in Florence.
