New Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga has been compared to Jermain Defoe by pundit Peter Beagrie.
The former Everton and Manchester City midfielder says he believes the £5.5 million signing from Peterborough will live up to his price tag, a heavy one for any Championship side to pay.
He told SkySports: "I think Britt will fully justify his price tag over the course of his Forest contract.
"He is a player I have seen develop quickly in the last few years and one who is quick, strong, brave and possesses a Jermain Defoe quality.
"He is equally adept at playing off the shoulder or dropping deep, turning and getting shots off before the keeper has a chance to set himself."
Assombalonga is only 21, but arrives off the back of a staggering 33 goals in all competitions last season.
Former Forest star Kenny Burns expressed his reservations ahead of the move last week, telling the Nottingham Post that he views the striker as a 'gamble'.
If he goes onto have the sort of career Defoe has, as Beagrie has compared him to, the signing will prove to be a bargain.
